Unit 2 – 1.1

Eminem – Venom

At the beginning of the track the instruments used are a set of drums witch is pared with claps and an abstract synth, this creates a sort of hip hop vibe with abstract feel, this is a good technique as it attracts different genre groups of people. The same instruments are repeated through the track and there isn’t any change of instruments.

The structure of the track is relatively simple because the same instruments repeated over and over again and to be honest it gets a bit repetitive however the instruments are very well blended.

Within the track Venom the tempo has a very hip-hoppy tempo as its at a steady beat

Venoms rhythm is very steady and it docent change within the song

The melody is a synth that reminds you of something from an old 80’s track as it is very old School especially for todays music

The harmony between the synths and the drum kit works very well and they compliment each other very well, it makes the song unique from modern day pop

The feeling that comes with the song is a sort of invincible feeling

The groove is within the clap as when the clap hits it makes you want to head bop in time with the music

Fredo x Young T & Bugzy – Ay Caramba

The instruments that are used is a baseline and a the marimba they use along with a drum rimshot reminds me of the Caribbean. A synth in the back that is used on the chorus is also adding to the Caribbean vibe.

The structure of the track is similar to the one you hear on every track, it begins with the chorus then there is a solo, the chorus comes in again and is followed with another solo, then the song ends with the chorus again.

The tempo has a very south american/ Caribbean vibe therefore the tempo is quite slow as its quite a chilled track.

Ay Caramba’s Rythm is very chilled and it is constant throughout the song.

The melody is the synth throughout the song, it works well as a melody because its very chill and soothing to listen to.

The harmony within the track of the drums and the synth works well as they work as a sort of call and response between the rim shot and the marimba.

The groove and feeling you get when you listen to the song is a unexplainable feeling to move around and dance and bop your head.

A Boogie Wiv Da Hoodie ft. Kodak Black – Drowning

The instruments used are a piano that is followed with kicks and high hats, it also has vocals in the background that compliment a weird sci-fi sounding noise.

The Structure of the track is simple and follows the regular structure by beginning with the chorus then he has a slow and then it finishes with the chorus again. Although this structure looks simple and boring it is used very well and its very effective.

With drownings tempo, it feels very slow and calm, it matches the lyrics and it works well.

The Rhythm to the track is very chilled and soothing to listen to.

The Melody is the constant piano that is the soul of the song and it feels like everything is built around it.

The Harmony between the piano and the drums is good but the call and response between the vocals and the weird sic-fi noise is very well done.

The groove and feel of the track is a very deep and yet it still wants to make you bop your head

The Notorious Big – Juicy

The instruments used within the song are a kick, high hats, snare, a bass guitar and 2 sets of vocals.

The structure of the song is simple as it begins with the main vocalist rapping then the background singer comes in then starts to sing then it goes back to him rapping. this was nicely done because the harmony between Biggie and his backing singers is very well done and it makes the song even better.

The tempo in jury is relatively slow because that was the trend during this golden era of hip hop/ rapping.

The rhythm to the track makes you want to rap to the song because its just got that body moving feel to it.

The melody to the bass is satisfying to listen as it basically holds the song together.
